As a researcher at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, a research think tank dedicated to the social sciences and humanities of the whole MENA region. As such, and as a member of the “Political Analysis Unit”, was involved in the monitoring and analysis of the political events of the MENA region and directly contributed to drafting a number of assessment reports, policy briefs, political analysis documents and research papers related to the MENA region with a focus on the Arab Spring countries. As the work of the Center is based on first hand contacts within the MENA countries, it has helped me build a very strong network of contacts with the relevant academics, media and journalists, in addition to the political and social activists of the region. In my capacity as the coordinator of the seminar program of the Center starting May 2013 until December 2014, I organized over 20 seminars on various subjects dealing with the politics and economics of the whole MENA region. As a member of the “Editorial Board” of two academic journals published by the Arab Center (Umran and Arab Policies), I was directly involved, until my resignation, in the process of conceiving the journals, the editing process and the publication of 10 issues for each journal since they were launched in September 2012, and March 2013, respectively.
