Jul 2021 - Aug 2021
Selected as one of the 15 students world-wide out of the pool of around 3000 applications.Worked in the Chemical Biology and Epigenetics Lab under the supervision of Dr. Stefan Kubicek. Carried out research on SMNDC1 protein.Used intron-tagging of SMNDC1 gene to enable live-cell tracking and nuclear localization of SMNDC1 protein. Carried out ligand-receptor docking using the Schrodinger software, in order to identify inhibitors of SMNDC1 protein.

Summer Research Intern
-
Jul 2020 - Sep 2020
Worked in the Data-Driven Drug Discovery and Molecular Informatics Group and investigated in-silico compound activity prediction.Built an artificial neural network (ANN) and trained the ANN model using active compounds dataset and inactive compounds dataset. ECFP4 fingerprints were calculated for each compound and were used as the input for the ANN model. Cross validations and parameter searches were carried out to evaluate and improve the model.

Received a gold award on my project on ‘Chemical Methods of Carbon Removal’.Carried out independent research via the internet and scientific journals and designed experiments to compare the performance of three absorbing materials under different concentrations and temperatures.Used Excel to tabulate and analyse my results. Handed in a 6000-word essay.
