Campo was a GOP candidate for Congress in 1992 and 1994 from Illinois in the seat then-held by Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin. Most recently, Campo was Vice President of the Republican National Lawyers Association and served as Parliamentarian of the Rules Committee at the 2012 GOP National Convention. Campo is a major donor and Life Member of the YR Alumni Network and serves as its President today.

He was later elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 1980s. Buz was an eary supporter of the YR Alumni Network, Inc., but passed away in 2010.
