    During a majority of my time as a substitute teacher for Anne Arundel County, I have been assigned to two long term positions at the high school level; Algebra 2 and MYP Chemistry. I held the long term assignment in Algebra 2 for just over two months, and the Chemistry position for three months. In both of these positions, I sharpened math, writing, computer, and customer service skills on a daily basis. Not only have I been creating and delivering lesson plans, I have also taken on the task of creating assignments, activities, and assessments in order to better serve my client; my students. Additionally, and more importantly, I have been able to establish and maintain lasting relationships with these clients, and use them as a way of improving my teaching style, classroom management, and overall educational approach.

  • Intern Loan Specialist

    Through my internship program, I originated, analyzed, and recommended for approval twelve commercial loan applications totaling $125,748,000. The clients were electric utilities, often high activity systems, which included residential, irrigation, commercial, and industrial consumers. These loan applications were submitted through the Rural Utilities Service Loan Program by various Rural Electric Cooperatives across the nation, in order to fund the construction and maintenance of distribution lines and facilities throughout Rural America. My participation in this program began with coordinating all aspects of loan negotiations and documentation for each of the individual loan applications I processed. For each loan application, I performed an analysis and made recommendations of appropriated funds and prepared underwriting memos; each client was required to meet a certain financial, liquidity, and leverage ratios. Additionally, the major components of both their income statement and balance sheet were addressed and compared to previous years to monitor performance trends. An evaluation of each individual borrower’s Ten Year Financial Forecast, and financial model development in preparation for the Assistant Administrator’s Loan Committee for approval was also a significant part of my duties. Prior to making a recommendation, I detected potential credit problems for individual borrowers, and advise either my team leader or direct supervisor. Under Rural Utilities Services (RUS), I also negotiated the execution of loan guarantee agreements as well as their ultimate closings, and monitored the transfer of the credit relationship to project management. In its entirety, this process involved communication with higher level management of RUS (in the form of the Assistant Administrator’s Loan Committee) as well as the General Manager and Director of Accounting & Finance for almost all of my designated cooperatives.
