Remote from Sunnyside, NY
As lead engineer at ReloShare, I work closely with the CEO and CTO to develop and improve hotel and corporate-housing booking platforms primarily geared toward social service providers and other alias-booking clients. A few of the hats I wear include system architect and software designer, co-manager of an external team and intern, and individual contributor: I personally implement solutions across our product library, such as robust and scalable serverless APIs and stack-spanning features on an MVC LAMP-stack application.

As a freelancer, I picked up extensive front-end development knowledge to catch up with my years of back-end experience to officially become (in my definition of the term) a full-stack developer. I spent several months learning semantic HTML, fundamental and advanced concepts of CSS, and important accessibility best practices. I continued on to working with modern JavaScript/TypeScript toolchains involving ESLint, React, Jest, Nextjs, etc. On the back end, I began working more with serverless and cloud-native solutions on AWS, becoming an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner early in that journey. I eventually stopped freelancing after joining one of my former clients, a startup called ReloShare.

Software Engineer
-
Mar 2018 - Aug 2019
While at Forcepoint, I found that my patience and focus allowed me to deeply understand our complex product and processes beyond my team's direct responsibilities. My efforts toward this wholistic understanding enabled me to become a great resource for cross-team collaboration and a bit of a subject matter expert to the tech support, sales engineering, and solutions teams. As my expertise grew, I steadily worked more with the pure-development teams and consistently split my time between my initial escalations role and developing features for future releases.

Associate Software Engineer
-
Oct 2015 - Mar 2018
During my first years at Forcepoint, I primarily handled escalated issues. This involved working closely with tier 3 tech support as well as several other engineering teams, and often included participating in remote sessions with customers for live-debugging or applying custom solutions. My team spent the day-to-day studying our product both inside and out, setting up sandbox environments to test and reproduce unexpected behavior, and writing updates for released versions of our software.

In my software test co-op, my team tested industry-leading software and technology both manually and programmatically. Some beneficial experiences include independently designing and developing custom endurance-testing software in Python and assisting in defining and organizing requirements from a product concept document while I gained hands-on experience in a professional and technical environment.
