During this period I worked the Tailings Leaching Plant in the different sections as follows. De-watering PlantI was responsible for the smooth operations of the thickeners. Controlled the reagent addition and monitored the efficiency of the thickeners.Under this section I carried out a project involving “The design of a pre- leach thickener ". Reagent PlantI was responsible for receiving the chemical reagents inventory, preparation of reagent solutions and ensuring that the reagent was continuously pumped at the required rate and concentration. Leaching PlantMonitoring the process and controlling the parameters to ensure optimum operation. Washing PlantI was responsible for monitoring the operations of the CCD's and reporting of any defects in both the process and equipment. Solvent Extraction PlantI was familiarised with the overall operations. This equipped me with a full understanding of the concentration process that occurs during solvent extraction. Lime PlantI was responsible for materials handling, storage and optimisation of ball mill operations. Electrowinning TankhouseI was responsible for co-ordinating, monitoring and supervising operations of the process plant to improve performance and throughput.During this period I have completed projects on:- Investigating the parameters affecting copper cathode quality.- Dip tank optimization to improve copper cathode washing Nchanga SmelterI undertook a familiarization training program for the smelter operations.
