Managed and executed field maintenance of wheeled vehicles, towed artillery systems, and fire control, armament, ground support, and electronical equipment. I diagnosed, tested, and analyzed malfunctions of equipment. I know nomenclature design, operation, and employment of the current inventory of field artillery. We thoroughly navigated through technical publications to interpret specifications and use automated (GCSS-Army) and manual systems (LIW) for supply of tools, repair parts, and related maintenance supplies. Served as Advisor to Company and Battalion Commanders on all matters pertaining to the Area 1 Field Maintenance mission. I served as 1 of 2 Maintenance Control Officers in South Korea, serving the 194th Support Sustainment Battalion under the 61st Support Maintenance Company. I managed several systems, including the Global Combat Support System (GCSS-Army), BCS3 [Battle Command Sustainment Support System] and FBCB2 (Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below). I was also the senior person for the UMCP (Unit Maintenance Collection Point) and was solely responsible for the local security requirements and tying it in with the adjacent units throughout Area I and II, across the northern half of the South Korean Peninsula. Responsible to the commander for the management of the combined efforts of the maintenance control section, maintenance section and service and recovery section, and the maintenance system teams attached to Camp Casey, I found it extremely complex and challenging for supporting logistical operations. I managed several dozens of personnel engaged in the maintenance and repair of small arms, artillery, and armament systems; direct the inspection, repair, replacement, and modifications of armament materiel; repair/overhaul starters, alternators, generators, fuel injectors, voltage regulators, switches, control circuits, etc on ALL armament related equipment.
