    I started by installing deep drainage both foul and storm from scratch.That means excavating, setting out and building manholes, laying the pipes,fitting branches,fitting all the ironwork and then testing and handing over to the client. From there I supervised a construction gang of carpenters, steelfixers and general operatives on an award winning construction of the yearCTRL 103 in Kings Cross.Moving on I supervised on a number of projects in the Kings Cross redevelopment area eg Gas Holder 8 dismantle and relocation. During this time I completed the companys foreman training scheme.I was by then a 1st Aider and was the assistant site safety advisor which meant conducting the site inductions, checking the valididity of skill cards,carrying out drugs and alcohol screening, carrying out regular health checks on the workforce,keeping the workforce and management up to date on all aspects of construction laws and safety. I also regulary presented workshops to the employees and subcontractors. I undertook the delivery inspection of all items of mobile plant to the sites, enforced the completion andsubmittion of weekly / daily plant checks and inspected the off hired items of plant to prevent contra charges from the plant hire companies. I also kept my CPCS telehandler card and skills up to date. I attended weekly management progress meetings to keep management up to date on H&S issues.Qualifications gained during the 16 yrs were cscs gold card nvq 3 cpcs blue card rough terrain telehandler. cscs blue skilled worker card and as well as keeping the 1st aider skills up to date I'm also qualified to carry out health checks and drugs and alcohol screening

    I operated various items of plant eg dumpers and excavators as well as supervising construction gangs on various reinforced concrete frame construction sites. Tasks included completion of daily allocation sheets and delivering toolbox talks. The company was taken over by BAM Nuttall whom I transferred to.

    I was team leader in a 3man crew excavating trenches and installing ducts for the cable tv industary. The finished work was of a high standard and had to be passed off by the client before final payment was made

    I was a team leader in a 2 man gang locating and repairing leaking gas mains in the London area. I also installed new gas mains and service pipes to new sites. This work could be highly dangerous and often impacted on the general public. I also had to liase with the police and the fire brigade on numerous occasions.Skills learned or gained during this time included Gas Distribution 4 and 5 ( GD4 GD5 ) and CITB Plant operator card now called CPCS
