The McMaster University Emergency First Response Team (EFRT) is a 24/7 volunteer service that provides emergency medical service to anyone across the university campus.Responsibilities:- Respond collaboratively in teams of 3 emergency medical responders - Attend any campus medical emergency as dispatch by McMaster Security Services- Abide by Duty to Act and Patient Confidentiality - Critical thinking to problem solve during high-pressure emergency situations- Debrief as a team after every emergency medical response to improve skills for future situations- Organize and document all call information, medical findings, and provided treatments for every call- Completion of a minimum of 5 shifts/month (split evenly between 8 hr day and 16 hr night shifts)- Balance responding duties with academics, personal commitments, hobbies, and down-timeTraining- Red Cross Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills TrainingConferences- Represented McMaster EFRT at the 2020 National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF) Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.
