      • Perth, Australia

      • Using Surpac to create geological models to be used in resource estimation at two operations in Melanesia, viz. Simberi (PNG) and Gold Ridge (Solomon Islands) – both low S epithermal gold deposits. Annual resource reports (compliant with the JORC code). Control of Resource Development and Grade Control drilling and processes as well as mine to mill reconciliation.• ArcGIS used for map generation and collating diverse geological data streams.• Conditional Simulation geostatistical study to optimize drillhole spacing.

    • Senior Resource Geologist
      • Jan 2010 - Nov 2012
      • Bowen Basin

      • Using AcQuire and Vulcan in borehole database maintenance and generation of structure grids to be used in LOMP’s. Created ad hoc gas, structural and geotechnical grids for current mine production issues. Started using Minex in the same role to comply with mining engineers’ requirements.• Tenement maintenance/organization, including geological recommendations and reports wrt sub-block relinquishments. Extensive use of MapInfo in this role.

    • Geology Manager
      • Jan 2009 - Dec 2009
      • West Perth

NI43-101 report on a Ni laterite deposit.Resource evaluation of a Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag stratiform deposit in Southern Africa.

  • Xstrata Zinc
    • Mount Isa
    • Senior Resource Geologist
      • Oct 2005 - Nov 2008
      • Mount Isa

      • Black Star Open Cut resource expansion – successfully modeled and interpolated the northern extension to the open cut.• Handlebar Hill Open Cut feasibility – involved in initial drill layout, personally sited the holes, QAQC of assay data, oversaw wireframing, created and interpolated (kriged) the block model. Delivered 7Mt resource to mining engineering which saw the open pit commence in 2008

  • The De Beers Group of Companies
    • Johannesburg Area, South Africa
    • Divisional Resource Geologist
      • Oct 1999 - Sep 2005
      • Johannesburg Area, South Africa

      • Modelled Voorspoed kimberlite pipe and created the block model. Voorspoed was successfully farmed out to a BEE partner in 2007.• ‘Responsible Person’ for the ISO14001 environmental system – created and maintained a ‘fit for purpose’ Access database.• Created the geological and block model for the Victor kimberlite pipe in Canada.• Modelled the resource extensions at De Beers’ flagship mines – Venetia and Jwaneng.• Modelled the Kimberley mine dumps as chronological facies to optimize retreatment.• Presented a paper (Possible volumetric deviations arising from downhole survey errors) at the Anglo American Mine Geology Conference in June 2005. Presentation was voted as one of the top four.• Presented a paper (The Effect of Downhole Survey Uncertainty on Modelled Volumes) at the Gemcom 2004 International User Group Conference - voted as third best presentation. It exists as a White Paper on the Gemcom website.

  • Billiton SA
    • Johannesburg Area, South Africa
    • Senior Resource Analyst
      • Apr 1994 - Sep 1999
      • Johannesburg Area, South Africa

      • Completed the five week linear geostatistics course at the CFSG, Ecole de Mines, Fontainebleau. (Dr. Margret Armstrong, 1998).• Using Vulcan, Whittle Four-D and supporting software to evaluate in-house projects and JV submittals. Some of these projects are as follows:• Dawagu porphyry Cu-Au (Irian Jaya) pre-feasibility study. This project involved extensive drillhole QAQC. Modelled the geology and created the block model. I was assisted by a geostatistician for the grade interpolation. Performed the Whittle Four-X pit optimization and did the sensitivity runs for the risk analysis.• Las Camariocas Ni laterite in Cuba. Gridding stategy was developed before I could create the block model. Travelled to Cuba to inspect the deposit and present results to JV partner.• Delmas silica mine, South Africa. I took this project from drillhole to pit design. The modelling, grade interpolation and Whittle runs were performed unassisted. A mining engineer guided me through designing the pit around the optimal shell. The mine adopted the design.• Kenyase greenstone hosted gold deposit in Ghana. Used exploration holes to create the geological solids. Kriged the model and performed the initial Whittle optimization.• Created the solids and block model for the Etoile-Ruashi stratabound Cu-Co deposit in Zaire. This project necessitated scanning A0 plans into raster images and then georeferencing into 3D space using a raster to vector transformation.• Pueblo Viejo gold deposit in the Dominican Republic. Created the solids and block model and performed the initial Whittle optimization on this Maar-type diatreme.• Kutrumali bauxite deposit, India. Audited the grade model. Inspected the laboratory in India as part of the QAQC of the assay data.• Steelpoort chromite deposits, South Africa. Evaluated the LG6 and MG4 stratiform chromitite layers near Tweefontein. Created the grade model and defined the resource categorization. Used Four-D to derive optimal pit.
