    FFA Aviation is contracted by the South African government, as well as clients, to provide aerial fire fighting services. Aerial Fire Fighting is the use of helicopters and aeroplanes, with the support of ground crews, to suppress and put out fires.As a Spotter Pilot of a Cessna 182, you fly over the fire whilst co-ordinating the entire operation and ensuring the safety of all aerial resources as well as ground crew. Safety being your key responsibility. Responsibilities of a Spotter Pilot:- Communicate instructions to ground and aerial resources, and ensure that instructions are followed.- Together with the Incident Commander, establish a plan of action on how to suppress the fire.- Control aerial fire fighting operation by guiding bombing units to where suppression is required.- Understanding the fundamentals of fires and fire behavior. - Be familiar with local weather conditions and the effects it may have on a fire.- Identifying and implementing ways to improve and promote quality through accuracy and thoroughness.- Monitor, evaluate and change to varying needs of individual clients.- Maintain familiarity with all relevant aviation Regulations, Technical Standards, Notices, Circulars and Procedures.
