      I conducted a qualitative research with the aim of understanding the needs of street beggars in Southampton. The age group included adult males that are currently living on the streets and begging. Street begging and homelessness are currently on the rise in the United Kingdom and the government is working towards effective measures to reduce the burden. A survey conducted by Southampton City Council in 2015, found 51 street beggars in the city which is high compared to other cities in Hampshire. The results from this research where presented to Southampton City Council and used for policy reform in the change of mental health rehabilitation services.
