As Finance Director I worked alongside the Operations Director and Managing Director for £7.5 million turnover company providing a specialist 24/7 support service to major insurance companies with work force of 150+ and nationwide fleet of vehicles.Strategic policy and decision making was combined with tight planning, budgeting and monitoring assisting rapid growth of the company from £2.4 million turnover, when I initially joined the company as Management Accountant the previous year, to £7.5 million turnover, three years later when the company was acquired by the global Saint-Gobain group.Responsible for whole finance function and team of eight accounts staff. Maintaining financial controls and systems to provide timely meaningful accounting information enabling positive decision making for the company throughout the period of rapid growth.Proactive approach to the development and growth of the company by the team resulted in significant achievements in cost savings without compromising the business but instead enhancing it. Enormous savingswere made in many significant areas allowing investment and planned expansion of the company. It was crucial throughout this period to have access to up to date informative accounting information. Financial forecasts and requirements throughout the sale process were prepared by myself along with any other financial due diligence requirements.

Initially brought in as a freelance consultant to review the company's accounts department but subsequently appointed Management Accountant/ Accounts Office Manager and then asked to join the Board as Finance Director in November 2000 and appointed 1 January 2001.Reviewed existing structure and systems in place which quickly identified significant problem areas that were manifesting themselves in creating severe cash flow problems and also highlighted the complete lack of a meaningful management accounting system. The review and subsequent action plan allowed the whole accounting system to be systematically cleansed so that all information was now relevant and true, enabling accurate information and reports for directors to plan the direction of the company. It also incorporated staff awareness and training in areas that were lacking, and cross training of skills to reduce risk. Continued introduction and improvement of existing systems allowed staff more involvement and ownership of key areas, with key information being available on a daily basis.During this time the company also successfully relocated from a market town in rural Lincolnshire to a site four times the size in the heart of the motorway network in Rotherham.
