Served as the USAID TradeBoost Zambia trade and investment technical expert, providing input to strategic approach, reviewing deals for technical appropriateness and viability and leading on all technical capacity building. TradeBoost co-invests with private-sector partners to increase gender-equitable trade and investment for Zambian enterprises, domestically, regionally, internationally and to and from the U.S.. The project aims to serve as a catalyst for job creation, increase incomes, and boost the participation of women and youth in Zambia's economic development. The project has a total funding of US$30 million. As Technical Lead provided technical leadership into the implementation of the buy-in to leverage and support relationships with key market actors in various sectors working with trade and financial ecosystem players. The role will also be responsible for managing USAID and implementing partners’ liaison and project management leadership.

Under a World Bank/FCDO funded regional study was contracted to be lead expert responsible for Task C of the assignment (Review of trade & transit facilitation). This task required the Consultant to review the trade and transit facilitation and non- tariff barriers in the SADC countries with a focus on national and regional corridors dimensions. It reviewed elements of border posts along selected corridors with a view of assessing and ensuring compatibility with best international practices including the WTO TFA, WCO RKC and other relevant international conventions and standards. In addition, we reviewed and assessed the operation and impact of the operational OSBPs along the key trading corridors selected and benchmarked their operations against best practice.

Performance Evaluation of the USAID funded activities under the Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA) Secretariat. Supported the team leader to conduct performance evaluation, data collection in selected countries and conduct data analysis. The evaluation determined which activities were working well and which were not achieving expected results, as well as the reasons behind these successes and challenges. The relationship between COMESA and member states was examined to develop a better understanding of how the relationships with member states relate to COMESA’s ability to achieve results. By providing USAID/KEA with recommendations and information, the evaluation results provided guidance to USAID on potential future activities with COMESA in accordance with the USAID/East Africa Regional Development and Cooperation Strategy (RDCS) for 2016-2020.

Contracted as Team Leader to conduct a Mid-term Performance Evaluation (PE) of the West Africa Trade and Investment Hub commissioned by the West Africa Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/WA), in collaboration with the Office of Trade and Regulatory Reform in USAID’s Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment (USAID/E3/TRR). The evaluation employed a qualitative approach, conducting 89 key informant interviews (KIIs), 3 focus group discussions (FGDs), structured observations, and a desk review of key project documents. As team leader led the development of KII Interview Guides, established the data analysis plan and led on the drafting of the Evaluation Report. This research included five weeks of in-country primary data collection across two phases in four West African countries (Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria).
