Timken Seed Farms, Inc began in 1934 when Henry Pechanec began selling seed from his home. He with his brother Frank Pechanec sold seed and in 1954 Henry Pechanec and Sons was started. His sons Victor and Stephen worked for him and sold seed. They moved to the present location in 1963 of the old Timken Lumber Company building. They became Timken Seed Company then. About 10 years ago they became Timken Seed Farms, Inc and Stephen and his sons James, Joseph and Thomas have run the business of selling open-pollinated seed to local farmers. Ellis, Atlas, Kansas Orange, Rox Orange and Early Sumac are some of the seed they sell. They are also sell NuTech, Stine and Heartland Genetics products. Family owned always!
