Leadership Development:• Developed the training and evaluation systems for over 30 New Leaders Principals currently running Baltimore City Schools. • Collaborated with the MSDE office of certification to be granted certifying status. Through this partnership with MSDE, NLNS grants A&S I certification without the residents going through a university. • Designed, implemented and evaluated weekly full day training session focusing on observation and supervision, adaptive leadership, evaluation of culture and climate and problem solving as well as technical content development. • Provided monthly professional development sessions on coaching, adaptive leadership and evaluation of climate/culture and instruction to the top performing principals in Baltimore City.• Developed the coaching model in Maryland. As the coaching staff has expanded, hired and trained the new coaches. I support, offer coaching professional development and help problem solve when there are issues the coach can’t resolve on their own. Additionally, I have provided monthly professional development sessions on coaching, adaptive leadership and evaluation of climate/culture and instruction to the 15 top performing Principals in the City Schools.Curriculum development and Analysis of Instructional practices• Built professional development modeling effective teacher and principal practices that move student achievement in partner districts. • Designed, implemented and evaluated curriculum that allowed for the use of the resources in a way that develops the teachers and leaders. • Created a quick needs analysis and built professional development based on the district and state requirements.• Developed an instructional evaluation tool which quickly assessed the instructional level of a staff and developed a roadmap for professional development.

Teaching and Learning• Principal of Maree Garnett Farring Elementary School #203 – Baltimore City Schools. • Implemented a 3 year Comprehensive School Reform grant and brought Core Knowledge in the building. • Used the resources to change the culture at Farring. As a result, the school was removed from the failing schools list.• In 2005, the school was named National Distinguished Title 1 School (one of 19 in the United States) by the National Association of State Title I Directors for closing the achievement gap between subgroups. • Administer partner - Johns Hopkins University’s School Immersion Masters of Arts in Teaching (SIMAT), Flex-MAT and PRO-MAT programs as well as Towson University’s Masters of Arts in Teaching program. I have experience with Teach for America and the Resident Teacher Program. Farring was selected to be visited by First Lady Laura Bush in 2001 during Teach for America Week because of the strong support for alternatively certified teachers.Online/Distance learning• Conducted all professional development online through use of Blackboard platform.• Fostered partnerships with Johns Hopkins Center for Technology Education to provide professional development allowing Farring to become “paperless.” Encouraged innovation of teaching to implement electronic white boards and Blackboard in classrooms before this was the norm in an elementary school.• Facilitated staff experimentation with technology-embedded instruction and created numerous technology-based interventions to “triage” the needs of our school’s frequently changing population.
