A passion of mine is health and wellness. I started my own health coaching business. People are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of making different food and lifestyle choices to regain and maintain their health. And corporations are looking for ways to reduce the costs associated with healthcare. As a coach and trainer, I supported clients to find their way to overcome the hurdles to excellent health and work with them to put action plans together.I conducted workshops on health related topics such as internal body cleansing or the impact of sugar on health. I assisted clients to transform their lives via my 6-month, bi-weekly program.

Employee Relations Specialist
-
2000 - 2007
In 2000, I transferred to a critical role in Vanguard and one where my talents as a coach and people developer were honed and perfected. I also built my knowledge of employment law and fair policy administration. In most organizations, the Employee Relations or Labor Relations role serves to protect the assets of the company by mitigating risk through investigating and acting on discrimination complaints and enforcing laws and company policies. That was true in this job too while supporting a client base of 1000 employees.I helped employees and management deal with issues including performance deficiency, working relationships, career development, using company benefits, or job placement. I conducted a variety of training on sexual harassment, fair treatment, policy interpretation, LOA (FMLA, STD), performance management, and compensation. I was the employee relations point-of-contact for report generation and data analysis for our quality improvement efforts. I ran monthly reports, presented data and facilitated team discussions to improve our workflow and services. I did a stint in our Leadership and OD department developing a program that identified high potential associates to prepare them for supervision. Using a competency-based model and bench-marking to best practices, I developed a high-po behavioral profile, conducted interviews and detailed key differentiating actions and behaviors of success. This profile was then used for selection purposes.

1997 - 2000
I was promoted to Training Manager and managed the delivery schedule of a variety of training programs. I recruited and oversaw the development of 10 to 12 trainers and 1 training delivery coordinator. I implemented formal quarterly observation, feedback and coaching for the training team to increase their skills. I was recognized by my management and the trainers for my expertise in providing constructive, fair and palatable feedback.Vanguard expanded to Arizona, and I was promoted to manage both the training and delivery operations segments of the new Scottsdale training department. All expenses were paid for my relocation to the Southwest. Needless to say, I was very excited.

Sr. Trainer | Instructional Designer
-
1996 - 1997
When you're loyal to a company, as I was with Vanguard, you experience business cycles. I returned to the Training and Development department at a time when the Managing Directors decided to centralize, yet outsource to an on-site vendor, all corporate and departmental training.I performed a dual role as trainer and instructional designer. On the training side I conducted management, professional development and technical training. On the instructional design side, I developed a variety of professional and technical training programs.I was specifically selected to lead the roll-out of a Purchasing Department software enhancement project that was off-track. With my intervention, the training deliverables and dates were met. I designed, developed and conducted the training for the department.During this time, my manager selected me to earn a Master Facilitator Certification from Achieve Global. I eventually facilitated 4-day Train-the-Trainer workshops where I provided feedback and coaching for junior trainers and department management to deliver Achieve Global professional development programs.

I learned early on in my training career that nothing replaces knowledge and skills gained first-hand on-the-job, so I initiated a transfer into supervision. Ultimately this improved my ability a hundred-fold to help managers be better at their jobs as I mastered the real skinny of managing people beyond classroom theory.I supervised a team of 20 quality assurance associates during the elevation of a new software program called VISION 2 for an internal operations department. We identified over 200+ software glitches and met project elevation dates. At the conclusion of the project, I supervised 15 technical support associates who tested and resolved software development and maintenance bugs. With my oversight, the team maintained department service level agreements. I learned first-hand the art and science of coaching and developing people.
