While in graduate school, and after the AOL City Guide contract ended, I moved to NYC to do an internship and get my feet wet in this city. My responsibilities were taking magazine content and re-purposing it for the website. Writing original content and blurbs for the website with products featured in the magazine. Updating XML files with new content.

I started out as an intern and then was hired as a contract city editor. I was responsible for editing Twin Cities, Detroit and Milwaukee websites for AOL City Guide, with off-site freelancer writers covering the must go-to events, nightlife and restaurants in those cities. I would edit their copy, enter the descriptions and events into the content management system, build landing pages for promotions and special features or mini-guides (for instance: 10 Things You Must Do This Winter in the Twin Cities) and coordinate events and places to feature on the homepage and sub-pages.
