Sep 2010 - Dec 2012
As a commercialization associate, I provided technical support for taking low cost health technologies being developed or supported by PATH to low income communities using market based approaches. For early stage technologies, this included market assessments, consumer studies and public sector liaising to understand the requirements for increase access to such technologies for low income communities. For developed technologies and existing products, this included user focused studies, landscape studies to assess manufacturing capabilities and potential distribution platforms, operational pilots to test market entry strategies for effectively reaching rural low income communities in a commercially sustainable manner. Specific technologies and products that I have been involved in working with are household water treatment and safe storage systems (water filters), sanitation (latrines and waste management systems), menstrual hygiene products (sanitary napkins), contraception and ORS-Zinc. Microfinance and rural distribution platforms as a means for affordable delivery of health products has been a special area of interest and attention. My responsibilities included overall program management, partner identification and management, study design and implementation, data collection and analysis and proposal writing for new fundraising. I was also responsible for managing the overall water, sanitation and hygiene portfolio for PATH India.
