Design Responsible Engineer (DRE) for thermal system components and assemblies on the 2021 Motor Trend Car of The Year, the Lucid Air, including: coolant lines, molded plastic manifolds and assemblies, reservoirs, defrost ducting, refrigerant lines, valves, and heat exchangers.• Develops and delivers concepts, detailed CAD models, and manage supplier progress from initial specification to design validation and completed production readiness process (PPAP) for series production parts.• Solves implementation challenges at production facility in collaboration with manufacturing team as we push to launch and ramp up production of the Air sedan on a tight timeline.• Owns design flaw resolution. Identifies root causes in cross-functional team. Applies lessons learned to process or hardware updates. Validates solutions on production representative vehicles. Implements changes and manage introduction of new revisions into assembly line.• Tests coolant system components on a flow bench to collect performance data which supports system level design.• Develops progressive iterations of the heat pump system hardware to support laboratory and vehicle testing, culminating in released system design to be introduced on all Air variants.• Responsible for product level thermal system design in energy storage (BESS) pilot program. Development testing, and mechanical design of thermal system components.• Model parts and manage products of all projects in Catia V6 2021. Maintain product tree including variants of Air sedan.• Utilized training in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and FMEA (AIAG). Implemented skills in drawing generation and reviews with suppliers. Owned DFMEA development and continuous improvement for thermal system.
