Managed a R4D project (USD 15 million for 5 years) called CSISA-MI (Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia-Mechanization and Irrigation) funded by USAID (Feed the Future). The project focuses on improved food security in Southern Bangladesh through appropriate mechanization and Conservation Agriculture. The Project Manager role was similar to the Deputy Chief of Party and worked as an Internationally Recruited Staff of CIMMYT. The project is working with the local service providers, private sector partners and Government structures. Major Achievements:• Lead the start-up phase of the project which includes procurement, recruitment, budgeting, partnership, planning, etc. • Developed and maintained a positive and efficient relationship with USAID’s key staff. • Oversee implementation of the project and assured delivery of all required targets. • Provided overall management and guidance to the field based Project Coordinators and partners. • Was responsible for overall management of project budget, administration and human resources. • Established and implemented a comprehensive M&E and research data management. • Ensured timely and quality completion of all reports and deliverables, especially M&E quarterly, bi-annually, and annual reporting, as requested by CIMMYT, the CGIAR, and/or USAID. • Developed and implement annual project work plans and performance milestone plans with donor approval and in collaboration with project partners. • Negotiated agreements in support of those plans with USAID, government counterparts, private sector, and NGOs.• Ensured appropriate documentation of project implementation process and contributed to periodic evaluation of progress and the drawing of lessons learnt. • Assured that field activities are properly implemented and maintained, in order to have the most efficient and beneficial impact to improve rural livelihoods in Southern Bangladesh, while delivering on the project’s targets. •
