    Way Sine LLC is my primary current activity. It has been an opportunity to work with several friends of long duration (> 30 years) on a fascinating project with broad implications. I have helped with the selection of hardware and overall design and have been a sounding board for the primary inventor. My primary responsibility has been the software which processes schedule and real-time data and efficiently produces the the data displayed on our signs. I've also consulted on our future network protocols. Way Sine produces an independent, solar powered network that inter\connects a wide area community, primarily to display up-to-the-moment public transport arrival information. However, it is also capable of providing highly targeted Amber Alerts, weather warnings, and other messages, as well as potentially collecting micro-climate weather information.

    ICE was the outcome of earlier work on Video on Demand, and resulted in three fundamental patents whose development is still being pursued (patents 7788396, 7437472, 7644136). One patent describes an approach that increases the throughput of a switched Ethernet network by up to an order of magnitude.

    Computers: business applications, satellite and server consulting, intellectual property developmentScalable on-demand servers (for video services):Consulted with Time-Warner Cable (1991-1993) on VOD deployment, represented TWC in initial meetings with server vendors leading to the first deployment of the Full Service Network in Orlando, FL. Investigations and tutorial for Cable Labs members ('91 - '93) on VOD.Viaduct started the Computer Aided Learning Center (CALC) on Oahu as an educational center and business incubator at the beginning of the multimedia revolution.We helped start Advent Networks in Austin, TX (In conjunction with Pangrac and Associates, as designers of the network and hardware that Advent pursued.We were honored to consult with Agile TV in Menlo Park, CA, working on patent documents, marketing, and underlying technology. Mark Foster and I invented a means of improving network efficiency by improving protocols for returning data.Helped to start a local Public Access station, later wrote integration software for the various automation systems at another large Public Access facility (Olelo).Consulted with other inventors on protecting their patents against infringers.

    In addition to being a technical consultant at Pathfire (originally Video Networks), I had the honor of representing them at the MPEG Standards Body meetings (as MPEG-4 was being standardized), and at the Society of Cable Television Engineers (focusing on commercial insertion).
