    Before becoming a full time union official in 2002, I spent 24 years in social housing in Liverpool. Initially with the local authority and latterly with Riverside Housing Association. All of my career in housing was spent in Housing Management, where I gained experience of all aspects of the discipline, including; Lettings and allocations Repairs, (both cyclical and day to day)Rental income controlVoid controlAnti social behaviourI eventually became an Assistant Housing Manager and became Team Leader in repairs, voids control and allocations teams.In 2002 due to my involvement with the trade union MSF, (Manufacturing Science and Finance), which later became Unite the Union, I secured a position as a full time union official. I represented members of the union across the whole industrial spectrum including, Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, NHS, Local Authorities, Electrical Engineering and Not for Profit to name a few sectors.During this time I gained experience and knowledge of;Employment LawCollective BargainingTUPEDispute resolutionPolicy developmentEquality and DiversityRedundancy and all other matters of employee relations.I am still familiar with the Housing sector as a large proportion of the membership I was responsible for was located in this sector and it was incumbent on me to be as familiar with developments in the sector as I could be in order to deliver the best service possible to our members.At the end of September 2018 I decided to retire early. However I would welcome the opportunity to utilise the skills and experience I have gained over the years in a part time capacity.
