      Green Office CIC was founded in 2010 to create employment opportunities for those furthest from work:• Prisoners• Released offenders• Service users from substance abuse treatment programmes• Ex-Servicemen and WomenWe are committed to working within and outside of the HMP secure estate to facilitate manufacturing operations, which usefully employs inmates and leads to through-the-gate employment opportunities which supports the rehabilitation agenda. This work will hopefully provide long term sustainable employment, through Public, Private and Third Sector Supply Chains. The annual cost to the taxpayer of re-offending is estimated to be £9.5 to £13 billion p.a. and the annual average cost per prisoner is £36,000 rising to £170,000 for young offenders in secure training centres. Around half of all crime is committed by people who have already been through the criminal justice system with 70% of young offenders released from custody reoffending within 12 months. This is an Urgent and Critical challenge for Government, we hope by working within and outside of the HMP secure estate that we can help reduce reoffending and provide credible work opportunities on release.
