Utilising my transferable skills it was a privilege to work within training establishments educating adult apprentices. My role was to enable them to gain a deep level understanding of systems and processes that subsequently offer future employers a resource pool skilled in a broad range of high technical ability, encompassing the service, repair and maintenance of automotive, power generation, load management, aircraft servicing and ground handling equipment. As part of becoming military equipment Form 1 authorised, students must complete a training course designed developed and presented by myself. Feedback from students and the wider Tri-Service community was very positive.

I was offered a fantastic opportunity in the fast paced, rapidly proactive Automotive Sector, and just had to grab it. I found myself working in an invigorating environment with wide scope of challenges and huge learning opportunities. My broad area of responsibilities were stimulating, varied and interesting. I had responsibility for ensuring plastic injection moulded components met customer, (BMW, JAGUAR, TOYOTA and HONDA), specification.•Performing Quality investigations and root cause analysis when customer expectations were not met then implementing corrective actions to bring product back to Master Sample standard.•My function allowed me to perform in a pivotal role when going through audits to ensure we maintain currency to the quality system for the automotive industry IATF 16949. It was challenging but also very informative. As with any audit there were a few things to improve upon but more importantly was the great feedback indicating that there is potential to become class leaders in this field.
