SMGA Boston is a chapter of SMGA located in Maryland. SMGA was founded by Jim Estes at Walter Reed Medical Center to bring the game of golf to recovering military suffering the visible and invisible wounds of both the Iraq & Afghan wars. Through clinics and events, we are assisting returning veterans with visible injuries as well as those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder & Traumatic Brain Injury. Through the use of the paragolfer we are bringing both amputee and paralyzed veterans onto the golf course. The support network created, has brought a great tool to our veterans to reintroduce them into civilian life as well as readjust to family life. It is also an outlet to share experiences of war with their brothers in arms. Through these discussions they are able to deal with the anguish and emotions they are experiencing.
