Success Coach & University 101 Instructor, Student Success Office
-
May 2012 - Present
Success Coach:The Student Success Office provides a variety of resources to assist students in moving toward success in all aspects of their lives including their academic goals as well as their career and personal aspirations. As a Success Coach, I meet 1:1 with students to develop plans to attain their academic, social or career goals, and work towards improving their academic skills to achieve success. In addition, I create, maintain and deliver various study skills workshops across campus, facilitate train-the-trainer sessions, and facilitate drop-in study sessions for groups of students. The Success Coach role assists students in identifying where they are struggling academically and personally. With the Success Coach’s assistance, students establish goals, develop and implement an action plan towards achieving those goals. The Success Coach provides motivation for students to take action, making their scholastic and personal vision a reality. Additionally, the Success Coach suggests strategies for measuring their progress toward excellence within a realistic timeframe.University 101 Instructor:The Student Success Office sponsors, maintains and delivers University 101 (UNIV 101), a university accredited course which serves as the cornerstone of the Foundation Term. I am an Instructor of this course, with support from the faculties across campus. I teach 2 sections of the course a term. In addition to teaching, I also contribute to the content of the course and work with faculty representatives to ensure that lectures, assignments and tutorial content is coherent with the nature of the discipline studied by the students.
