Stella Lane currently serves as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve.As the senior prosecutor in Mayport, Florida and Yokosuka, Japan, Stella Lane litigated over 100 felony and misdemeanor cases including fraud and ethics violations. She was the first-chair prosecutor in numerous evidentiary hearings and trials; and represented the U.S. Government in employment hearings. As a legal assistance attorney, Stella Lane provided legal assistance to military members and their family members on a variety of civil and administrative legal matters including employment law, immigration, family law, land lord/tenant law, estate planning and consumer law. Stella Lane also provided advice to the Commanding Officer, U.S. Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan on a variety of legal issues including investigations, military justice, administrative law, ethics/standards of conduct, privacy rights and the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). As a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Puerto Rico, Stella Lane represented the United States in the United States District Court and argued a case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and prepared appellate briefs on behalf of the United States. As a defense attorney, Stella Lane defended clients in criminal trials, pretrial proceedings and administrative employment termination proceedings.
