    Currently working as a Health Writer and senior journalist for the Cape Argus, one of the leading daily newspapers in Cape Town. It is the city’s mostly read English newspaper, owned by the Independent Media Group. As a senior journalist I often work at the News Desk – editing stories, managing the news team and the news diary. I often write editorials/leader for the Cape Argus, especially about health matters.I’ve been doing health reporting for the Cape Argus since 2008, having worked as a Transport Reporter and General Reporter before that. My duties include writing hard breaking news about health-related matters and covering important topics that matter to the Cape Argus target market. I cover both public and private healthcare matters.My areas of interest are public health issues including government policy, health research, HIV/Aids, tuberculosis, medical aid stories, and human interest stories that document ordinary people’s journeys and struggles concerning access to decent healthcare.The topics that I cover include South Africa’s health challenges especially those that affect the Western Cape, such as HIV/Aids, TB, Mental Health, Cancer, and health and science research. As a senior journalist some of my duties include mentoring junior reporters and assisting with the news desk responsibilities such as editing stories.

    I worked as a Transport Reporter for the Cape Argus - writing a wide range of transport-related stories including hard news, features and analytical pieces that are topical to the Cape Argus readers. Most of my work focused and investigated policies of both local and provincial governments, including the national government, and the impact these policies had on people, particularly public transport users. My areas of interest included traffic calming plans,public transport plans, road construction, and street renaming. I also investigated incidents of taxi violence and fights over taxi routes in the Western Cape, and the impact these had on commuters, taxi owners and ordinary taxi drivers who are economically depended on the taxi business.

    I worked for Personal Finance newspaper as an intern, doing business reporting and personal finance stories. The paper is a Cape Town based financial weekly newspaper, which is part of Independent Newspapers Group stable – published nationally with sister weekend newspapers such as the Saturday Star, Weekend Argus and the Saturday Independent.I also previously worked for campus publications, Xpośe and News Rapp, while I was a journalism student at Walter Sisulu University in East London.
