Pöyry Management Consulting is an international consulting and engineering company that serves clients globally across the energy, industry and infrastructure sectors. A major focus of my work was to provide market analysis and commercial advice to companies operating in European electricity markets. Examples of my work include:- Providing market and regulatory due diligence for project financing and M&A transactions for CCGTs, wind farms, electricity retail businesses, gas distribution networks and coal stations- Contributing to Pöyry’s year long multi-client study assessing electricity market design options to decarbonise the European electricity sector- Market modelling of wholesale electricity prices in the Irish Single Electricity Market and leading Pöyry’s modelling of EU ETS carbon prices- Lead author of Pöyry’s Annual Irish electricity market report - Lead author of a major study for the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) analysing the alternative uses of biomass for decarbonising industry. This project analysed the costs and benefits of substituting standard industrial products with bio-based alternatives.

Responsibilities and achievements include:- Providing EU ETS consultancy service to an industrial multi-national- Conducting Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for nuclear and gas fired power stations for a major utility- Several projects for the European Commission analysing aspects of the EU ETS including; the impacts on carbon leakage, energy security and compliance procedures. - A scoping study for Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) to provide advice on the future research requirements of the nuclear industry
