      I joined the Cape Town Carnival in its 4th year of operation and within a two year period I overhauled and developed key initiatives and strategies in 3 areas:MARKETINGI took over the marketing management for the CTC on a full time basis after a series of contract service providers had left the brand with a schizophrenic marketing strategy and visual identity. A key project was the redesign of the organisation's Corporate Identity - shifting the brand's Eurocentric and outdated feel to a fresh, vibrant and more representative African contemporary look. An additional annual project was managing the development and roll out of the event's thematic creative concept for that year: Image (2014), Elemental (2015), Street Life (2016).My duties included the full role out of the strategic marketing plan including digital media, print advertising, television and radio advertising and activations. This involved developing creative concepts alongside other members of the Creative Team and then seeing them through to final delivery (supplier briefs, concept boards, final sign off, distribution).I successfully managed an annual marketing budget of between R3 million and R5 million (made up of both cash and in-kind resources).PUBLIC RELATIONSMy public relations duties included developing and annual PR strategy that specifically spoke to the Carnival theme for the year as well as key messaging. My PR duties included stakeholder relations: developing and maintaining valuable relationships with organisations and people in national, provincial and local government, tourism bodies, local business and neighbourhood initiatives as well as Cape Town Carnival participating communitiesSPONSORSHIP MANAGEMENTI developed a successful sponsorship model for the organisation including rights packages, sponsorship sales and relationship management. Our secured sponsorship was in the region of R12 - R16 million per annum and included sponsors like KFM, DSTV and Tsogo Sun.
