Sharon works closely with colleagues to provide a high quality learning experience for clients, on campus, online, and in the workplace. Her experience and skills are broad and include conducting training needs analysis; developing training and assessment resources and strategies; and mentoring colleagues e.g. mentoring project aimed at building capability and addressing VET legislation. Having worked in the vocational education and training (VET) sector for 25 years has enabled Sharon to understand the complexities of the competitive VET environment and the obligations to meet the national standards for registered training organisations.Sharon teaches a wide range of business competencies including MYOB, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WHS/OHS and environmental sustainability work practices. She coordinates and participates in assessment validation activities and other teaching and assessing roles including writing content for elearning resources. Sharon provides educational support to students in a number of ways e.g. she worked in a voluntary role as a national judge in the WorldSkills Australia Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) program - a series of work-simulated projects based on industry standard frameworks. As a VET professional, Sharon is skilled in complying with VET Standards for RTOs 2015. She regularly undertakes roles that have a quality control and quality assurance focus such as being an active member of the team that participated in a successful re-registration audit completed by the VET Regulator ASQA in 2014. Sharon and her professional mentoring partners Greg and Tanya were nominated in the 2013 Hunter TAFE Staff Awards for their role in mentoring colleagues in quality teaching and assessing practices. Sharon has been the recipient of many nominations and awards since joining TAFE NSW.

As a full-time teacher of Office Administration and Technology units of competency Sharon was committed to the 'end to end' quality educational service delivery to clients. She was the Project Manager of an assessment validation project, a TAFE NSW Quality Awards submission in 2006. Sharon was an active member of the College OHS Committee, often undertaking the secretarial role, and she was a regional judge in the Northern Sydney Regional WorldSkills Business Services competition. Sharon mentored the student who progressed to the national competition held in Melbourne in 2006, and who subsequently won the Bronze medal. Sharon was a national judge in the WorldSkills VETis (vocational education and training in schools) competition held in Darling Harbour in 2008. Sharon was the recipient of the Macquarie Fields TAFE College award for outstanding service to students/clients, and nominated for many other staff awards.
