    I manage 9 student staff (Community Ambassadors) in fostering safe, healthy, welcoming and inclusive communities, as well as coach their development in professionalism, teamwork and administration. I oversee the wellness and conduct of a residence of 400 first-year students. I connect residents and student staff with various resources within the broader campus as part of continual wellness check-ins and educate residents on being accountable for their actions if they harm or impact the community. I also am part of the first-response team within residences and triage higher level mental or physical health, or building operational emergencies. Along with a team of 6 other colleagues, we develop training programs for student staff, as well as plan and execute the hiring and feedback management process.

    With a team of other monitors, I lead groups of ESL students on events and excursions. I actively engage students in conversation to practice their skills and ensure that the students are enjoying the activities in a fun but safe manner. Excursions can range from 40 to 150 students, and can include sightseeing in Banff, skiing, exploring Glenbow Museum, learning line dancing, etc.Over the summer of 2019, I was funded by a Canada Summer Jobs grant to explore the behind the scenes aspects of event and excursion planning. That included vendor and student email correspondence, itinerary and event planning, material and duty preparation for shifts, and the maintenance of regular communication via social media platforms.
