    HDW is an employee stock ownership plan company with its roots dating back to 1984. In 2016, they purchased the retail division of World & Main, formerly known as Handy Hardware in Houston, Texas.In 2017, they purchased the 600,000+ square feet facility formerly occupied by Celebrating Home. As a Merchandise Manager, I was a direct report to the Vice President of Merchandising and was responsible for procurement of products for the Plumbing and Housewares departments.• Maintained appropriate inventory levels on over 20,000 SKUs.• Routinely communicated with vendors and manufacturers to maintain the supply chain.• Worked with vendors and manufacturers on discounts on products for promotions to our dealers.• Worked with sales staff to obtain quotes from vendors/manufacturers for unique products or large shipments to be drop shipped.• Conducted planning sessions with our top vendors on how we would coordinate advertisement dollars and promotions on product throughout the following year.• Encouraged all vendors to participate in our semiannual markets. It was an opportunity for the vendor/manufacturer to meet our dealers to promote product or demonstrate new items.• HDW is a member of Distribution America which allowed opportunities to visit with potential new vendors/manufactures or to review opportunities from current vendors.
