As the ENSCO-8504 was recently stacked, I "bounced" around a few rigs assisting and covering the electrician's position until the ENSCO-123 began her commissioning stage. The ENSCO -123 is a Keppel FELS Ultra-Enhanced, Super "A" class jack up designed, not only for the harsh environments of the north sea, but the dry hot heat of the middle east with its equipment all being spec'd to 50 degree ambient. The Amphion based drilling system is built of a PR6i, TDX-1250, ADS-30Q, 2 x ST160 iron roughnecks, catwalk machine ect ect. Main power to the fully "AC" rig is supplied via 6 x CAT 3616c engines with generator output that has been de-rated to 1,500kw each. Emergency power when required is fed from a CAT 3508-B with a 910kw rated generator. With joining this rig at the beginning the commissioning stage, it’s going to give me a great deal of insight and experience as to her secrets which will ensure we keep safety and production at its peak and downtime at minimal.

Participated in commissioning of new DP2, 5th generation Semi sub in Singapore shipyard. Finishing mid 2011, we then moved over to the South China Sea to drill, moving between Brunei, Philippines and Malaysian borders. With a strong drive to exceed expectations, and passion to always improve as an Electrical tradesman, I thoroughly enjoy the challenges that have arisen over the years, and I’m sure will continue well into the future.

I made a life changing decision to move from the mining boom of Western Australia to the hopes and dreams of the oil field. A brand new, Full AC drive - 1,500hp Amphion based land rig was brought in from Houston by Weatherford and I was part of the commissioning team. Some of us then landed the job of carrying on the electrical maintenance and further “de-bugging” of the rig.
