Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa was named Favorite Hot Springs Spa and Most Affordable Spa in America in Spa Magazine’s 2008 Reader’s Choice Awards. Sean also serves as Lead Director on Personnel and Operations.

    Largest family owned four season resort company in North America operating resorts at Big Sky, Montana; Sugarloaf and Sunday River, Maine; Bay Harbor, Boyne Highlands, Boyne Mountain, Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa and 162 holes of golf in Michigan; ski mountains in Utah, Washington, New Hampshire, and Vancouver; plus a scenic chair lift in Tennessee. Responsibilities included concept, design, and brand development for spas companywide, plus daily operations of Boyne’s Michigan facilities. Created a new standard for Midwestern spas with the opening of the flagship 19,500 sq. ft. Solace Spa at the Mountain Grand Lodge in May ‘05. Sean also founded Solace Institute which offers a School of Massage, School of Yogic Studies, and Restorative Getaways.

    Responsibilities included development, design, training, and opening of a new world-class Spa & Salon (43,000 sq. ft.) and Fitness Center (8,000 sq. ft.), hiring, firing, counseling, management, marketing, forecasting, budgeting, and daily operations of the historic La Costa Spa. Collaborations with the Chopra Center of Well Being, Yamaguchi Salon, and Sylvia Sepielli’s spa consultant team. Part of the acquisition and transition team upon purchase of property in November of 2001. Completed the first year of ownership (2002) by increasing spa’s profit margin by an additional 12% over previous year / owner’s performance.

    Responsibilities included opening of a new spa and management of 100,000 sq. ft. complex with indoor and outdoor tennis, cardio theater, weight room, aerobics studio, daycare, summer camp program, aquatics with four pools and seven whirlpools, beach club, Nordic center, corporate event planning & teambuilding, member social programs, and resort special events (Winter Carnival, July Fourth Spectacular, Labor Day Beach Bash, Oktoberfest, Michigan Screams at the Trail of Terror, Northwoods Holiday Display, etc). Daily management, marketing, forecasting, budgeting, and P/L reviews of multi-million dollar revenue generating department. Improved moral and synergy of a team of over 125 employees, introduced Grand Traverse private cherry product line and signature services, and significantly increased local business segments use of Spa through promotions and community events (Spa Awareness Month, Media Fam, Art and Spa Extravaganza, etc).
