Documented requirements, developed cost estimates, worked with internal IT Security, Asset Management, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, and external vendors to develop and implement the project plan. • Developed and led the successful GroupWise client upgrade project at EOC.• Designed 24 workstation computer training lab. Worked with Skills Training Center staff to define hardware and software requirements. Directed the work of internal and external personnel during the implementation of the project plan.• Provided support for 350 end users.• Participated in the selection and installation of new hardware and software. Elicited performance requirements from business units then documented and presented those requirements to the hardware, software vendor selection team. • Worked with the Telecommunications department during the evaluation and testing of various proposed Voice over IP (VoIP) and teleconferencing solutions.• Ran the Palm Pilot evaluation project and was the first Palm Pilot product administrator at Tampa Electric. Selected an evaluation test team of end users from various TECO Energy departments. Developed a test plan. Provided ad hoc progress reports to IT management. Palm Pilot was adopted as the TECO Energy standard mobile device.

• Implemented Lotus Notes client for the Corporate Taxes department and demonstrated how they could use Lotus Notes and dial-up Internet services to receive up-to-date changes to tax law without having to wait for a courier service to deliver a changes document from Washington, DC. • Converted the Legal departments word processing application from WordPerfect to Microsoft Word. • Installed desktop and laptop computers with current versions of the Microsoft operating system and Microsoft Office. • Provided end user training classes when Tampa Electric converted from WordPerfect/Lotus/Paradox to the Microsoft Office suite. • Successfully converted all the business units I supported from PROFS to Office Vision to Novell GroupWise on time and on budget.• Proficient in: PC/LAN/WAN/Mainframe application development and maintenance; DOS, Windows; end user packages such as: Lotus 123, dBase III/IV, Paradox, WordPerfect, Harvard Graphics, Freelance, and Informs; End user mainframe tools such as: QMF/SOL and EZtrieve; CAD/CAM and PC Memory Management. • Wrote the Project Scope Approval (PSA) for network installations for Corporate Finance, Corporate Treasury, Risk Management, Real Estate, Business Planning, TECO Power Services, and Telecom, Skills Training Center and Eastern Engineering at the Eastern Operations. This required meeting with the various business units to understand their business processes identify all risks associated with the installation of, and connection to the proposed network. Calculated the total cost of the installation including the cost of file servers and network infrastructure installation, the cost of labor associated with the installation and ongoing support of the network along with end user support. This document was presented to senior management and was approved. The installations completed within schedule and budget.

This solved the problem of moving data files between desktop computers and also allowed access to some mainframe applications such as PROFS.
