Within this role, I was responsible for coordinating and planning the political elements of campaigns, from strategy through to advocacy and lobbying.I successfully developed, managed and implemented clear and concise communication strategies and plans across multiple platforms and developed and implemented political strategies to achieve regulatory and legislative outcomes. I was responsible for coordinating all aspects of design, development and distribution of proactive member led and reactive marketing materials.Leveraging high levels of interpersonal skills, I engaged with Ministers and elected members at local, state and federal levels as well as members and multifunctional teams throughout QLD.I strove to provide effective representation for members by providing advice and support as well as holding high level negotiations with employers to address a multitude of industrial relations, and am particularly proud my success in the development of the ‘Equal Rates for my Mates’ campaign. This campaign ensured wage parity for TransLink contracted drivers in the Passenger Vehicle industry and delivered a historic wage equalisation and substantial wage increases to workers in this industry.

Communications and Superannuation Officer

Before being promoted to the Communications and Political Director of TWU, I worked in a communications and superannuation officer role, which saw me responsible for the management and implementation of successful communication strategies and plans across multiple platforms. I worked in collaboration with delegates, officials & organisers to develop and implement marketing material for industry and union-wide campaigns. This included all aspects of design and distribution of proactive member led promotional materials used for union promotion as well as the coordination of union representation at various campaigns, industry expos, shows and conferences to ensure TWU strategies are achieved. A significant component of this role was the promotion of the TWU Super Fund as well as providing representation and advocacy to members by providing advice, support and holding negotiations with employers, addressing a raft of industrial and workplace relations.

My first opportunity to work within the ALP saw me employed as a Project officer where I was responsible for building and promoting party membership as well as ensuring ongoing engagement amongst the members. This role required the provision of campaign support, coordination of volunteer’s, delivery of training and development and the effective implementation of communication materials.Other key responsibilities included planning of conferences and event logistics and working on special projects assigned by the State Secretary.While working in this role, I lead the coordination and facilitation of a highly successful and impactful youth engagement forum.
