    As a Portfolio Manager at Barak Fund Management, I have been responsible for managing a portfolio of borrowers across the Barak SPC Funds and the smallholder farmer impact fund, LAFCo. Building on my experience as a Deal Analyst, I took on direct responsibility for each borrower in our portfolio, overseeing all aspects of their management and working closely with legal counsel to ensure that all credit facilities are properly structured and executed.In addition to my core responsibilities as Portfolio Manager, I voluntarily took on a number of temporary positions within the business, including Head of Systems and Portfolio Manager for LAFCo due to those positions become vacant during the Covid pandemic. In these roles, I have had the opportunity to expand my skill set and take on new challenges, while continuing to deliver exceptional results for Barak and its clients.Since 2021, I have been responsible for the restructuring and recovery of all deals under my purview due to the impact of Covid-19 on our borrowers. This has been a challenging task that requires me to utilise my previous experience in portfolio management with a different lense to navigate through the complexities of recoveries in African jurisdictions. I have remained fully committed to this important responsibility despite the ongoing challenges.

    Analysis for deal origination: I was responsible for conducting thorough analysis of potential investments. This involved evaluating the financial, operational, and structural factors of each opportunity to assess its potential returns and risks.Credit application compilation and presentation: I compiled and presented credit applications at weekly committee meetings. This included gathering and presenting all relevant information in a clear and concise manner, to support informed decision-making.Legal drafting and review: I worked closely with legal counsel to ensure that credit facilities were properly structured and executed. This included reviewing all legal drafts before execution, to ensure that they aligned with Barak's investment objectives and risk appetite.Ongoing management of clients and portfolio: In addition to analyzing and originating deals, I was also responsible for ongoing management of clients and the portfolio. This included conducting regular credit reviews and investor due diligence to ensure that all investments remained aligned with Barak's investment objectives and risk appetite.Loan management software design/architecture: I played a key role in designing and developing Barak's new loan management software. This involved developing the software's architecture and working closely with the technology team to ensure that it met the needs of the business.Investor presentations: I liaised with investors on specific borrowers and queries in order to facilitate their due diligence processes. This involved taking investors for walk-throughs of clients' operations, and providing them with any additional information or support they required to make informed investment decisions.
