BNZ Partners offers tailored banking solutions to help fund and grow customer businesses.The primary purpose of the Senior Associate role was as a credit writer - conducting financial analysis of SME businesses, which were looking to grow via debt funding. I would then prepare a business case outlining the strength of the business and it’s ability to repay the proposed new debt based on historical and forecast financial performance.Key responsibilities:• Financial analysis of company financial statements and forecasts: Key metrics – revenue growth, gross margin, opex and capex vs. forecast, interest cover, debt repayment period, liquidity & solvency tests, net cash flow after operations and ROI.• Business case preparation for internal credit authorities: A written report detailing the explanation of the transaction, debt structure in terms pricing and amortization, results of financial modeling and sensitivity analysis to support strength of financial performance, business/industry risks and mitigating factors, benefits for both the customer and the bank in terms of ROI.• Cash flow lending analysis for unsecured debt. Identifying opportunities for customers to free up balance sheet assets from their security profile when stable and consistent cash flows are present.• Portfolio risk management and mitigation. Monitoring changes to the risk profile of customers and their respective industries.• Working capital solutions. Providing suitable products and facilities to assist with the cash management of businesses such as Trade and Debtor Finance.• Identifying new business and referral opportunities.• Customer account management.Industry exposure:I worked with a wide variety of clients across a number of industries including: Agribusiness, Construction, Energy, Financial Services, Legal, Media, Sport, Transport and Technology.
