Part 1:The industry in which I am engaged, and which I list here at Linkedin.com, has resulted in the creation across the world-wide-web of a tapestry, a jig-saw puzzle, of poetry and prose. This is the industry of a self-employed individual who is now retired from many roles of paid employment: teacher & tutor, lecturer & adult educator, taxi-driver & ice-cream salesman, among many others. I was 70 on 23/7/'14. I am now on 2 old age pensions--one from Canada where I was employed from 1950 to 1971, and one from Australia where my working life continued until 2002 when I went on a disability pension at the age of 58 due to my bipolar 1 disorder. Some 14 years later I am now in my 70s and fully ensconced in a literary life.I attempt in my writing to endow various themes and a wide range of social science and humanities subjects, as well as topics from the biological, physical, and applied sciences, with many layers of meaning across the internet. I have evoked a wide range of responses to my writing, responses ranging from intense criticism and indifference to a lavish praise and enthusiasm.Part 2:I hope that over the eight decades of my life I have developed a writing style which, while trying to fuse together material from many academic disciplines, from my own life and my values, beliefs and attitudes---in a word---my religion, has achieved a form that is both provocative & intellectually stimulating on the one hand, and entertaining and amusing on the other. Such is my aim and, depending on who reads my writing, my aim is achieved.I now have hundreds of 1000s of readers, possibly millions, engaged in reading parts of this tapestry, this industry, this jig-saw puzzle of my writing across the WWW. I have created, with varying degrees of enthusiasm and polish on the one hand, and varying degrees of expertise and ignorance on the other, several million words.

Part 1:For the last 19 years, 4/1997 to 9/2015, I have had a website and written extensively in cyberspace. I have published many online books, or ebooks as they have come to be called. One of my books is available at eBookMall; 1 at Lulu.com; 1 at Juxta.com, and many at my website in the form of several genres of my writing. Some of my books are found at many sites in cyberspace. They are spread-out in varying quantities from full-text to partial texts over some 8000+ sites. I refer to many of my pieces as books since they are found at my website which has the equivalent of at least 60 to 80 books at 80,000 words per book. There are many collections of my posts at a host of internet sites. A list of many of my works is available at Baha'i Library Online. My internet site is found at: http://www.ronpriceepoch.com/ Readers can also find my writing at hundreds of internet sites by simply Googling my name: RonPrice followed by any one of a number of other words like: blogs, forums, poetry, history, religion, philosophy, psychology, mental health, Baha'i, culture, media, literature, and many other words and phrases.Part 2:During the 17 years(1999 to 2015) of my retirement from FT employment, and especially in the 10 years since 2005 after I had also retired from PT, casual & volunteer work, I have come to work as a writer and author, researcher and editor, poet and publisher, online journalist and blogger, scholar and reader. This has been after 55 years in the job world in various forms: FT, PT & casual-volunteer: 1950-2005.Much of my time is spent editing my own writing & publishing what I write on the internet. This publishing is a new form of online-publishing that has emerged by degrees in the last 20 years, 1995 to 2015. Much of my time is spent in informal teaching & consolidation, community building, service & social activism. I am a member of the Baha'i Faith, although what I write is not in any official capacity, simply individual initiative..

Roles I Have Had In Life
-
Oct 1943 - Present
-
Canada and Australia
The industry I have been involved with in my student-working-retired life, 1949 to 2015, has been education. The following is a summary of my ascribed and achieved roles in life. These roles will give readers here an accurate picture, at least in some ways, of my present activity as I head through my 70s in the years 23/7/'14 to 23/7/'24.----------------------------------------------------------------------A. My Ascribed Roles in the Lifespan: grandson, son, nephew, cousin, father, step-father, uncle, grandfather, step-grandfather, husband and male among others.B. My Achieved Roles in the Lifespan: writer and author, poet and publisher, essayist and editor, online journalist and blogger, scholar and reader, editor and researcher, teacher and tutor, student and lecturer, as well as many other roles. C. My other roles are found here at Linkedin, roles I held at different times since beginning my earthly-life in 1943, my student-life in 1949, my PT employment life in 1950, my FT employment life in 1967, my retirement-life in 1999, my pension-life in 2009--age 65, and old-age itself(70 and over)in 2014 using one of the many models of human development that psychologists use for the lifespan. Other models use the age of 80 as the beginning of old-age.

Part 1:As a writer & author, poet & publisher, editor & researcher, reader & scholar, online blogger & journalist during my retirement from FT paid employment, beginning in April 1999, I have acquired millions of readers. This is something that was unimaginable to me back in the late 20th century. Before I was 70, back in July 2014, I unfriended some 150 of my Facebook friends because after 8 years on Facebook I had come to find Facebook-type communication a distraction to my serious forms of writing. Twitter too became, after 6 years of tweeting, a site I did not use to collect followers or to follow others. Part 2:My profile has been developed over many decades of academic and life-experience. In my first 15 years in cyberspace, 1994 to 2009, collecting followers and following others was part of my raison d'etre. In 2009 I went on two old-age pensions. I began to detach myself from the processes of following others and being followed. By September 2015 I had, as I say, millions of readers in cyberspace and 200 people to whom I wrote and who wrote to me occasionally, but not at Facebook or Twitter. I now deal with the Facebook-Twitter world to simply advertise my writing but not to interact with others.Self-learning, an auto-didactic life-style, has been part of my MO since at least the 1950s. A list of relevant experience and the variety of projects I’ve had in life would be far too long to list or include them here. I've had an entrepreneurial spirit most of my life but, by my 20s, that entrepreneurial spirit was translated into various forms of learning and teaching, community building, service and social activism.Part 3:Now in the evening of my life, as I go through my 70s from 2014 to 2024, I am not I trying to become employed, FT, PT or casually. I have no interest in paid employment in any form. I am now, as I say above, a writer and author, poet and publisher, online blogger and journalist, editor and researcher, reader and scholar.

Part-Time Jobs as a Student
-
Jul 1950 - Aug 1966
-
Burlington Ontario
I had many jobs from middle childhood, ages 6 to 9, to the end of my adolescence, age 19, and into my early adulthood, 21 to 23. These jobs were part of my life in the years 1950 to 1966. One of the jobs was delivering newspapers and getting others to do the work. I would pay others 50% of the money and I would collect another 50%. It was a "win-win." I did the organizing and got money; the others needed money and did most of the work. This early evidence of an entrepreneurial spirit was transferred from earning money to teaching and learning, doing a wide variety of jobs and gaining a variety of personal & community experience in the 5 decades from 1967 to 2015. In 1967 I began to teach FT on Baffin Island. In 2015 my self-employment was essentially as a writer and author, online blogger and online journalist, editor and researcher, reader and scholar.
