In 1991, I leased and renovated an Ethan Allen Furniture Store to accommodate the first Barnes & Noble in California. In 2001, we leased and converted the Barnes & Noble into a Cost Plus. Then, in April of 2012, we demolished the building and redeveloped the site to accommodate Walgreen’s new concept store. We started construction in May of 2012 and deliver possession to Walgreens just 9 months later on January 14, 2013. Stockton’s Community Development and Building Departments helped us achieve every milestone. How such a responsive corporate culture was maintained was truly remarkable given the financial difficulties that Stockton was experiencing at the time. In my 30 years in real estate I have never been prouder of a project, nor have I ever worked with a better team. Thanks to Walgreens, Stantec Architecture, Woodland Construction and the City of Stockton for your fine efforts.
