• Deliver Impact-based Decision Support Services to state and local partners; keeping communities safe by providing accurate forecasts, warnings and messaging during impactful weather and hydrologic events.• As shift manager, provide direction and guidance to operational staff in a 24/7 setting; cultivate an environment of equity and inclusivity; mentor junior forecasters and recommend subordinates for awards and recognition. • Responsible for the timely issuance of weather/hydrologic watches, warnings and advisories. These include short-fused warnings that activate Wireless Emergency Alerts when weather conditions warrant the issuance. • Responsible for coordination of forecast products, headlines and messaging with neighboring forecast offices, national centers (including Weather Prediction Center, Storm Prediction Center, National Hurricane Center). • Lead scientific review of significant weather events and share findings at national and regional conferences, workshops as well as public webinars and science sharing seminars. • Utilize my cross training in social science and meteorology to lead research in support of the national Social Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBES) Group’s efforts to identify consistent depiction of risk, threat, and impact.• Strengthen international relationship with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), whose Quebec regional HQ is geographically closest to NWS Burlington.• Lead groundbreaking efforts to reimagine our collaboration with University of Vermont (UVM) College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) given the increased emphasis of social science within NWS.• Initiate the development of an interdisciplinary graduate certificate program that would merge aspects of atmospheric science, climate literacy, risk communication and decision making.• Demonstrate to regional field office management teams how to meaningfully engage vulnerable populations during the FY23 national IDSS Communities of Practice (CoP) discussions.
