Developed a statewide fair housing education and outreach initiative to educate housing consumers, providers, and industry professionals about their rights and responsibilities under the Fair Housing Act and related laws. Designed and implemented a rigorous fair housing test methodology, hired, trained and managed more than 60 contractors and evaluated dozens of housing providers for compliance with fair housing laws.

Led Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) advocacy efforts for Maryland. Conducted trainings to prepare leaders at community-based organizations (CBOs) to leverage CRA and related laws to bring responsive bank products, services, and investments to low and moderate-income communities. Organized 19 member Baltimore City-based CRA coalition, Reinvest Baltimore. Conducted analysis of bank CRA and fair lending performance using publicly available bank data, including HMDA data. Organized Maryland CBOs to engage in community reinvestment campaign during the Truist merger which includes provisions specifically raised by Maryland CBOs. Engaged CBOs and community leaders in regulatory campaign to protect CRA from proposed weakening changes resulting in 107 comments submitted to regulators. Co-presenter at two-day Fair Housing and Racial Wealth Disparities workshop hosted with National Community Reinvestment Coalition. Led MCRC’s policy research agenda, including analyses of discriminatory practices in auto insurance pricing; civic debt collection practices used by the State of Maryland; district court data on debt collection, garnishment, and debtor’s prisons. Developed expertise with programming language SQL in order to access and analyze court records in the Client Legal Utility Engine (CLUE). Conducted statistical analysis of data. Analyzed court records and other publicly available data. Created data visualizations including mapping geographic data. Formulated policy recommendations in response to analysis. Authored policy briefs, research report, and fact sheets.

Focused on strengthening economic security for older adults through programs, policies and financial products. In initial program year, collaborated with community partners to host 10 events connecting more than 400 seniors to community resources and consumer education. Educated partner organizations, state and local government representatives, policy makers and community members on Age-Friendly Banking. Planned and facilitated the Maryland Age-Friendly Banking roundtable, co-sponsored by the FDIC, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Maryland Bankers Association to bring together financial institutions, community organizations, regulators, and governments to discuss how banks can better serve older adults. Successfully advocated for the passage of 10 priority bills during the 2016 Maryland legislative session through written and oral testimony, legislator meetings, and mobilizing supporters.
