Robert provided advice and central coordination for the development, implementation and evaluation of RFDS national health programs. He worked with the National Finance Manager, National CEO and Operating Sections to coordinate the evaluation and reporting for all national health program contracts, producing high quality deliverables within timeframes and budgets. His role involved the development of key stakeholder relationships including with funding bodies, donor organisations and peak health bodies. He represented the RFDS at political, governmental, NGO and private forums. The role involved participation in a number of strategic health initiatives including coordinating the RFDS National Health Advisory Committee and liaison with peak bodies addressing national health priorities within the rural and remote context.

Robert was responsible for providing psychological services to clients from Alice Springs and the area of Central Australia it supports. This required visits by road or light aircraft to remote Aboriginal communities, mine sites and Tennant Creek. He provided psychological services to Alice Springs gaol and debriefing services following a number of critical incidents. As Senior Psychologist he supervised staff and participated in management and service development projects during a period when the service was changing from a hospital to community based service.
