      My overseas experience in the financial services area helped me get the job at LeasePlan. I started on a 6 month project to implement JD Edwards accounting software and a Client Profitability Model. When the contract finished, I was offered the permanent position of Accounting Manager – both Financial and Management reporting. After that I chose to move into business development and support including projects, business process mapping and quality & risk management. I have maintained my role in reviewing the client profitability. This side of the job is both very important for the company and of real interest to me. My most recent role at LeasePlan was as a Projects Manager within the Business Improvements Team from November 2010. In March 2016, I have left LeasePlan to start my own Projects and Consultancy company - Right There Limited.

Insurance Accounting is quite different to any other type of accounting and to the factory accounting I had been doing at Nestlé and helped me to grow in the area of Financial Accounting.

      I started at Nestlé from university as an Assistant Cost Accountant at their main factory in Wiri which produced coffee, milk, milo, nesquik and Maggi products. Initially the various duties included costings, variance reports, treasury forecasting, budgets and revisions, fixed assets, overhead and labour reporting and inventory control. Later on I was given the greater role of being the Administration Manager for their petfood factory in Marton, followed by their confectionery factory in Waiuku. The role of Administration Manager obviously carried much more responsibility in terms of the Financial and Management reporting, payroll and inventory control and I enjoyed it very much.
