I have been working on the R&D and commercial implementation of VerdErg's Venturi Enhanced Turbine Technology (VETT) since 2010. VETT is a new technology which amplifies head across a standard turbine, increasing efficiency and driving down turbine and generator costs, for a system that has a competitive cost to power ratio.I have worked on 4 full scale hydrodynamic testing programmes and a full scale environmental test where several fish species where passed through the venturi at the heart of the device. The environmental programme was successful in providing evidence that fish can pass through the device unharmed. Each hydrodynamic test have shown improvements in efficiency and understanding.I was the lead engineer for the first VETT prototype that was successfully launched in 2012 in a mill race in the River Caldew, Cumbria. Aside from the VETT R&D activities I have been involved in project feasibility studies, VETT marketing activites and presenting VETT to clients and potential investors
