    Amateur Soccer Program in Pocono Mountains, PA Founder/Manager In High School, I was one of four students and one faculty member who started Soccer as a High School sport. Since we did not have anyone to play against, it was necessary that we have surrounding schools involved who would have a Soccer program. It became apparent that we provided the means for student athletes to win scholarships to colleges and universities. Upon graduation, we wished to continue in a similar program. There were many of us who were participating in Soccer in College, but some of us wanted to continue in a local level and to reach out to the community, to provide a means for interested individuals to participate. I and three others decided that the way to do this would be to have a Summer Soccer League. This league would be open to beginners all the way to college athletes. I put up the money for this program. During my tenure, we had at least nine athletes who went on to play professionally. This program is now the Summer Soccer Program at East Stroudsburg University.
