    The Northern Antiques Fair established in 1955, the longest running provincial Antiques Fair in G.B. Formerly owned by the late Robert Maxwell,it passed on to Reed Publications after his death. Robert Bailey acquired this prestigious event (1995) having negotiated with Mr Brian Bradford M.D. for Reed. publications (Country Life). It is reported the asking price was quarter of a million pounds.This event, up until 2003 was staged in Harrogate North Yorkshire, Harewood House Leeds hosted the 54th year. Plans to continue are being considered.

    Robert Bailey Oriental Carpet specialist,formerly right hand man to Levy Kelaty of L.Kelaty Ltd of Cutler Street London EC2.the largest importer of Oriental rugs Antique and contemporary in the World. The turnover was £4m and Robert was the only salesman 1969. During his ten year apprenticeship the Co gained a Gold Award for export, by the time Robert left to open his own Co in 1978 L.Kelaty Ltd was employing around 55 staff and with a turnover of £20m. L.Kelaty Ltd had moved for expansion and established itself in the former Gainsborough film studio Islington with 52,000 sq ft of floor space, ( Later acquiring Eagle Wharf adjacent land) the average height of the stacks of carpets, 5 to 6 feet.
