The Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) Programme, run by UK Finance at the request of the Financial Conduct Authority, is coordinating a wide range of stakeholders across the payments industry to help them collectively deliver against an agreed industry plan to implement SCA for card-not-present transactions for e-commerce by March 2021.Membership requires supporting the programme in information gathering, problem definition and analysis, options generation, evaluation and recommendation. The stakeholder group consists of around 100 organisations including regulators, issuers, acquirers, merchants and trade associations.I was selected for the Hotel and Travel Special Interest Group alongside 10 other merchant representatives, under the wider Business Working Group. I engaged in the working group on behalf of CMSPI clients in the Hotel and Travel industries, working through technical issues with the goal of ensuring an optimal implementation of SCA for merchants in the sector.
